National Library

The Services to Schools lending service is available to home educators throughout Aotearoa NZ. The National Library of NZ has approximately half a million books available via collections at Auckland, Christchurch and Wellington.

Services to Schools has made changes to the borrowing process for home educators. The changes have made it easier for home educators to register to use the lending service and to be able to borrow books online. This is a free service except for the cost of return freight on the books to National Library.

Check out the new content on the website and discover the easy process for borrowing books for students.

Services to Schools also has digital teaching and learning resources available for home educators.

Free Research Help From Librarians

Do your students need help with their research? AnyQuestions is a free online chat service that helps school-aged students with their questions and teaches them research skills. Students interact with real librarians who assist them to refine their topic, choose good keywords for searching, and find and use reliable online resources.

The AnyQuestions librarians share their tips and advice during the chat to help students grow into confident, independent researchers! Afterwards you will receive an email copy of the chat so you can keep track of useful resources and have a record of your student's learning experience.

AnyQuestions is supported by the Ministry of Education, managed by the National Library, and staffed by librarians from around Aotearoa. It's available 1-6pm Monday to Friday.
