Renew Your Membership

Before you proceed, please check which membership you qualify for:

  1. Full Membership: For those currently home educating with a valid Certificate of Exemption issued by the Ministry of Education, and able to provide evidence of this such as your exemption number *

  2. Associate Membership:
    (a) For those intending to home educate and able to provide information to confirm this ^
    (b) For other adults in the same household as a Full Member - please provide the Full Member’s name and membership number

  3. Alumni Membership: For those who have previously home educated a child with a valid Certificate of Exemption issued by the Ministry of Education, and able to provide evidence of this such as your past exemption number*


    * Your exemption number is a 5 digit base number followed by a -1 for first child, -2 for second, etc. There is only one reference number for the family - the suffix indicates the order of exemptions granted. You can find the exemption number on each Certificate of Exemption and also on declaration letters. We do not note this number anywhere, it is used simply to confirm homeschooling status. Other types of information to support your membership application may be accepted - discuss with us at memberships@nchenz.org.nz.

    ^ Accepted confirmation of an intention to homeschool may be the date you will be submitting your exemption application, the date the Ministry of Education received it, or some other information which confirms your intention to homeschool - discuss with us at memberships@nchenz.org.nz.

Membership to NCHENZ is free. The new classes of membership came in with our new Constitution, adopted at the June 2024 AGM, to meet the requirements of the new Incorporated Societies Act 2022.
